Often when I get out of the shower I hear a little jingle…”You’re not fully clean till you’re Zest-fully clean!”

Which is annoying…because I use Dove.

Thought you should know.

Catherine and Heathcliff

February 26, 2008 · 15 Comments

Ten years ago, following a pleasant bonding session with Jane Eyre, a girl named Ruby was introduced to Mr. Lockwood as he wandered the moors on his way home from a rather unpleasant visit to his ridiculously unpleasant landlord, Mr. Heathcliff. Due to sheer bordeom and an unwillingness to turn another dry page Mr. Lockwood didn’t make it home, rather he was left wandering the moors in a snowdrift.

A year later Mr. Lockwood sought my attention again in English class and this time I met Mrs. Dean, the housekeeper, as well as Catherine Earnshaw. It was a short lived, forced, acquaintence as they provided no amusement and I opted to just make up the report rather than keep reading.

The third time is meant to be the charm so I tried once more when I started university but the old saying proved false.

Last week in Chapters I came across Wuthering Heights yet again and the familiar feeling of annoyance at never having finished the dry boring horrifically slow classic came over me once again. I told myself I was going to finish this infernal heraled novel before February was through, as someone who has never been able to put a book down till I’ve finished (Wuthering Heights and textbooks excluded) I’ve been irritated at my inability to finish this for a long time.

The problem has been solved now. Today, after much effort and boredom…I have finished suffering through reading Wuthering Heights. Woohoo! Its time to celebrate! Join me won’t you? Have a cupcake! Have two!

Attention Job Seekers!

February 13, 2008 · 21 Comments

Think you’re articulate, intelligent, have the required experience, present well, have the right skill set and are the best thing since sliced bread?

You might be.

But if you hit on the receptionist on the way out…you’re so not getting called back. She’s definately going to tell half the office and everyone’s going to laugh at your weak pickup line.

**Update for Cheryl: the weak pickup line was “So your last name is beer? Haha! You must really like it hahaha. Its cheap, I should take you for one this weekend.”**

Naptime Should be Reinstituted

I might be slighty sleep deprived…

Not sure what gives me this feeling…except that I might have slept through an entire forty-five minute facial after finishing a large coffee…

Two

Lots of good things come in twos…shoes…earrings…sandals…chopsticks…boots…

So that means it must be ok to date two guys right? Erm…sometimes on the same day?

Seven

February 6, 2008 · 12 Comments

The ever fabulous Beth tagged me to complete the Seven Things I Approve Of meme so here we are. Beth approves of many of the same things I do, such as a woman’s right to choose and religious freedom. Like Beth, I approve of lots of things…like Nutella and pashmina shawls.

1. Presents. To yourself, from yourself to reward yourself for being you and working so hard because you deserve it. Shoes…a manicure…sporting events.

2. Enjoying the Moment. Taking that one extra minute to linger over coffee, enjoying the company of friends or watching the sunset.

 3. Giving Back. Volunteering, fundraising or buying chocolate covered almonds from the kid at the door…I think its important to give back to the communities we live in.

4. Ending the Genocide in Darfur. For those of us who are so ridiculously fortunate to not have to endure war we should each make an effort to remember those who suffer, make any contribution we can to bringing peace to war ravaged Sudan and work towards pushing our governments to end the genocide.

5. Diversity. It would be so boring if we were all the same.

6. Saving the Environment. The polar bears are drowning…who will make Coke commercials if we don’t have polar bears people??? Recycle, reduce and reuse! Think of the polar bears!

7. Chocolate. Mmmmmmm.
