It all started with Grey’s Anatomy towards the end of the third season. Before that the only reasons I turned on the TV were football and hockey. Then I saw an episode of Grey’s Anatomy, season two, at the insistence of a friend…although…I’ll be honest…it was the red shoes in the opening credits that really got my attention. Anyone know where I can find them? I had dreams about those shoes…
So yes, it all started with Grey’s Anatomy. Then the occaisional episode of How I Met Your Mother while I did my nails. Then Kate Walsh got her own show and so I watched a couple episodes of that. Of course Friends reruns are on all the time so those were good to have on in the background while I was cleaning or cooking or doing other stuff.
Then I just had to know what the whole Hills craze was and of course it was like a car accident, I couldn’t NOT watch. Besides Lauren and her friends have some great clothes. So Monday nights found me and a friend on the couch watching the Hills and wondering why Audrina was so infatuated with the grossness that is Justin Bobby.
Then I found myself plopping down in front of the TV randomly…to unwind for a moment…while I ate dinner…to flip channels mindlessly…to help me procrastinate from doing the dishes…
And now, no longer the girl who just didn’t ever watch TV has reached a new low.
I have a confession blogland. Last night? Like the Sunday before, I purposely turned on the TV in order to watch…Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
(Thanks for all the good wishes and cyber chicken soup! *muah* You’re great!)

Keeping up with the Kardashians is amazing. I used to watch SO much TV, definitely all of the shows you mentioned, but now I live in an apt with no cable and it’s sort of… incredible.

Having a guilty pleasure is when you know you’ve arrived in TV junkie-dom. I know i have mine.

Yeah well at least you didn’t purposely watch “Growing Up Gotti” – it was so sad, but in an absolutely hilarious way. It was about Mafia leader John Gotti’s daughter and her 3 perfect-eyebrowed-can’t-understand-anything-they-say teenage sons. Lucky for me it was cancelled.

Um…. I may have been watching the same show as you last night. But seriously? I felt so awkward seeing Kendal pay that guy $5 to clean her room.
Almost as awkward as admitting that I watch the show.

Heh. Good old TV, addicting as hell.
Actually, I dropped a lot of shows during the strike, stuff that I was watching to pass the time but was really wasting my time. Now I’ve pared it down to the shows I really like. And lots more PBS…

LOL @ Hills Craze…I watch it too…but I missed it last night – - don’t feel so bad as I believe there is a re-run sometime this weekend !
I’m going to google “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”

Ok I’ve been watching the Hills for awhile now, I had no idea that Brody Jenner was Bruce Jenner’s son until I watched “Keeping up with”. I’ve just revealed way too much about myself.

I too have become addicted to staring at the tube. I try to keep up with Horatio Caine and his Miami CSI team’s relationships and adventures. A few weeks ago, I found myself wondering if I should buy a pair of sunglasses because I thought they resembled what Caine wears on the show.

Don’t worry, trying new shows is better than just watching Friends reruns over and over and over and over. Which is what I do. More often than I’d like to admit.

i knew i had hit an all-time low when i had a student (in one of the classes i teach) named “Jordan Bobby” and I couldn’t stop having ill-will toward him…poor thing!
i’m going to blame it all on the writer’s strike…it ended up getting me hooked on all sorts of reality-show nonsense!
