Boyfriend and I were driving home from a fanstic steak dinner and Mamma Mia when we started discussing how in a year and a half, he’ll be thirty. After a momentary freakout he realized he needed to get a start on the things he’d wanted to accomplish before then. I, like Brandy, love lists.
So this is my list of things to do before I turn 30.
Before I Am 30 I Should:
• Become fluent in French
• Double my RRSP
• Obtain my CHRP
• Pay at least $5,000 a year extra into my mortgage
• Buy, and pay off, a red Mini Cooper
• Learn ballroom dancing
• Get married (and then stay married)
• Travel Europe
• Travel Canada
• Learn about wine
• Read the entire works of Shakespeare
• Learn to decorate cakes
• Get back, and stay, in shape
• Volunteer with an organization for a cause I believe in
• Become a better friend/sister/daughter /significant other
• Learn to bake bread
• Learn to wrap presents without them looking as though a car ran over it
Hmm….there must be more…
What do you suggest?

Boyfriend and I have been together for about six months now and yes, I know, that’s not very long but I think I might actually see a future with him. I’ve spent a good portion of the last six months having a constant back and forth with the little voice at the back of my mind that regularly offers its opinion that Boyfriend just can’t be this good a guy, there must be something wrong somewhere.
But maybe…just maybe…he really is this good a guy…who takes care of me when I’m sick, who goes out of his way to do things for me, who is there for me…and who won’t hurt me. And maybe I don’t need to wait for the other shoe to drop.

If this whole career thing doesn’t work out….I could always be a professional wedding guest. I already have a closet filled with dresses.

Je m’appelle Ruby. J’aime le français! J’ai appris comment dire que j’aime acheter des chaussures!
(My name is Ruby. I love French. I learned how to say I like to buy shoes!)
So I am a geek. I have classes twice a week, three hour sessions, and they just fly by. I really enjoy learning this language. I picked up a French newspaper at the school yesterday and I was really excited because I could recognize some of the words. GEEK!!!
The hardest thing about French class? I want to anwser in Spanish!

So I met my boyfriend’s mother this Saturday for the first time. We also went to Boyfriend’s best friend since childhood’s wedding (Boyfriend was the best man) on Saturday where I met the groom’s mother as well.
Mother A:
Said about five words to me and asked all of one question: “Do you have any siblings?”
Mother B:
Threw her arms around me, gave me a big hug and told me she was so excited to meet me because she’d “heard wonderful things from her son” and I was the girl that had Boyfriend head over heels. She walked arm in arm with me while we were in the park for pictures, chatted with me the whole time and when we said goodbye she said she couldn’t wait to see me again.
I’ll let you guess who was who!
