Boyfriend and I were driving home from a fanstic steak dinner and Mamma Mia when we started discussing how in a year and a half, he’ll be thirty. After a momentary freakout he realized he needed to get a start on the things he’d wanted to accomplish before then. I, like Brandy, love lists.
So this is my list of things to do before I turn 30.
Before I Am 30 I Should:
• Become fluent in French
• Double my RRSP
• Obtain my CHRP
• Pay at least $5,000 a year extra into my mortgage
• Buy, and pay off, a red Mini Cooper
• Learn ballroom dancing
• Get married (and then stay married)
• Travel Europe
• Travel Canada
• Learn about wine
• Read the entire works of Shakespeare
• Learn to decorate cakes
• Get back, and stay, in shape
• Volunteer with an organization for a cause I believe in
• Become a better friend/sister/daughter /significant other
• Learn to bake bread
• Learn to wrap presents without them looking as though a car ran over it
Hmm….there must be more…
What do you suggest?

This looks like a fantastic list, and plenty to do. I say you start with this and see how it goes!

Can you build me a time machine so I can go back to thirty and do all the things I wanted to get done? Please?

Read the entire works of Shakespeare? Wow! We’ll have so much to talk about if we ever meet in person.
I’m also working on the ballroom dancing. I started off with Tango, and quickly learned it was too ambitious for a clueless beginner like me.

Ok but how old are you right now? I gotta do some math.
I gotta tell ya, as a woman over 30, there is plenty of time for this stuff. And the thirties are EVEN BETTER than the twenties. Seriously!

good grief, i’m turning 30 in 6 weeks (not that i’m counting or anything..) and have been meaning to do a post about this ginormously epic event that everyone seems to approach with a weary, heavy sigh.
i loved, loved, loved my 20’s…fell in love, became a mom, published a book…i can’t wait to see how much wiser, bolder, and interesting i’ll become in the next decade..hah!

I could’ve never guessed you were a bad gift wrapper. Good luck!

My only suggestion. Don’t sweat thirty it’s just a number and halfway through my thirties I gotta say they ain’t bad at all.

I’ve got the same question as sizzle….how old are you now? That’s a pretty huge to-do list! But I’m confident you can do it; good luck:) I want to make a list too….

i think ‘becoming a better friend’ shouldn’t be on there – you’ve already accomplished that in my books; hmm….combine ballroom dancing with rain – it’s almost bollywood

One of my suggestions would be to scrap a lot of grown-up things in the list and ENJOY your 20’s!!!

Love the list…but I also agree with Isheeta…

“Learn to decorate cakes”
My friend did this by paying about $30 at Michael’s for like 6 lessons (I think) and there’s different levels and she’s so amazingly awesome now. So it’s totally doable.
“Become a better friend/sister/daughter /significant other”
You’re already the best.
