Setting the Deuce Loose!

September 28, 2008 · 1 Comment

I know why the FOX NFL robot was dancing today…do you?

Wanna guess? Ok. Go ahead…

Should I tell you? Ok! I can do that!

The Saints beat the Niners 31 – 17! 31….to 17! THIRTY ONE to SEVENTEEN baby!

Why oh why can’t we play like this every Sunday? I forsee a new chant….something involving the names “Moore” and “McAllister”.

So…I may or may not have fallen head over cute black satin buckled heels for marthastewart.com. I mean, she has a Cookie of the Day! I may have been sucked into the detailed, precise, fussy, intimadatingly perfect world created by the most exceedingly perfect homemaker to have walked this earth.

I’m imtimated by how perfect everything is. I’m convinced I’ll never be able to replicate any of it.

But I check her website everyday.

And sometimes? I take a late lunch, go home, and watch her show.

Am I Dreaming?

September 21, 2008 · 4 Comments

We’re in the fourth quarter and at this moment the Dolphins are whooping the Bradyless Patriots asses. (Sorry Brookem).

I’m stunned.

I’ve even swtiched from watching my beloved Eli to watch the Pats lose.

And now Eli won in overtime! Wooooo!

Black Martinis for Everyone!

September 17, 2008 · 13 Comments

Soooo…I’m a loser. Its true.

Halloween is still six weeks away and two weeks ago, when it was two months away, I went to Party Packagers and bought $50 of decorations and then to Zellers where I bought $40 of candy (I may have eaten most of it already). I’ve also started casually inviting people to my Costumes Required Halloween Party…its almost like a verbal Save The Date. As in, “Hey I’m going to have a Halloween party in a few weeks…you should start thinking of a costume! I’ll get you the details later.”

I’ve found a recipe for black martinis and started brainstorming appropriate party foods. I’d love suggestions!

I’ve been debating if there should be a Best Costume contest.

The big decision now is if I should be a cowgirl or a gypsy. Votes?

I? Am prepared!

For a party that is six weeks away.

And also? Kind of a loser…who starts planning Halloween parties so far in advance!

Work Life Balance

September 11, 2008 · 6 Comments

So there I was around 6:45 on Wednesday evening in a whirlpool at a local hotel whose pool area my gym has an agreement with. I was stretching and doing my back exercises when a guy got in the whirlpool with me.

He offered me half his paper and I refused because I’d get it soaking wet and he said it was ok because he only wanted to read the sorts section. So we talked football for a bit and some hockey…I’m of course a Saints fan, he’s a Packers fan and we’re both Leaf fans. We discussed the Favre/Rogers issue in depth, the Pats upcoming season without Brady, Colston’s thumb and how the Leafs should just throw the season. Made some small talk about the gym we both work out at and our jobs…

He’s a business development manager for nearby company.

And he’s coming in on Friday for an interview with the business management team.

You’ll have to excuse me…I have to find a creative way to tell my boss that we are hiring a guy I met in a hot tub. Without saying that I met him a hot tub.

Color and Art

September 5, 2008 · 6 Comments

My walls are bare.

And beige.

There’s a lot of beige. My walls are beige, my carpet is beige. I’m beige.

I need color!

When I flip through home magazine’s they always look so perfect (obviously) and have all these random colors that just come together. Those rooms have dimensions…personalities…textures and fabrics. Those rooms have interesting pieces, focal points and art.

I have beige. And no art.

I love art. Real art, not mass produced prints at Bombay Company and Home Outfitters.

I draw stick figures. I don’t know a lot about colors. Clothing wise, I pair all colors with black rather than getting fancy and risqué with multiple colors.  In fact, I’m actually scared of some colors. Like orange. What do you do with orange? I mean other than put some black with it on October 31st and call it Halloween?

Home magazines intimidate me a little…they make it seems so effortless. And almost as though you’re a failure at living in anything other than a cardboard box if you don’t have curtains that coordinate effortlessly with the rug which works with the candles on the mantle that happens to bring out the beauty in the cushion which makes the sofa seem so luxurious.

Um. Yeah.

So I need to paint me some walls. Accent walls. They need to happen. And I need to put some art on those walls. Non mass produced art.
