Who gets laid off twice in two months? Me!
Job hunting really really really sucks and I’m not looking forward to it but I am glad to no longer be in the job I was just in. The company was fantastic but the HR department was a nightmare, I am relieved to not be working there anymore but this isn’t the situation I need to be dealing with right now at all. *sigh*
Anyone know of a job opening?

A couple days ago I was heading home on the highway after work, heading to meet some of my old coworkers for dinner. Traffic was letting up, we were all flying down the road and I was totally going to be at the restaurant with time to spare.
I rounded a curve and saw an unusual movement off to my left…on the shoulder, where cars generally aren’t. Without knowing why I slammed on my brakes and a split second later a black car spun in front of me, fishtailed across the three lanes of oncoming traffic, slammed into the beige car in the next lane from me and spun them both into the concrete median. The beige car, a sedan, was just a couple feet to my right and just stopped a few inches further than I had. If my car had been even three inches further when it stopped…there’s no way I would have made it through that accident. That black car and I were thisclose. The white blur to the left was a cargo van that had rolled over and other drivers, who had also been narrowly missed, were trying to pull the driver out.
Fortunately, it seemed like everyone involved was ok and I am soooo grateful that I had my brakes replaced recently.

I had my first ever dream/nightmare about the wedding last night. I dreamed we were walking around under a huge oak tree in the fall talking about taking pictures under it. There were piles of leaves we were trying to avoid falling into and all of a sudden a car pulls up and some lady is taking her groceries out of her car and asking why we were wandering around her front yard. We were telling her that we’d booked that spot for our wedding portraits when we realized we’d forgotten to tell the bridal party we were taking pictures…and then we realized the photographer wasn’t coming because we hadn’t booked one.
*sigh*

I will have a paycheque! Woooohooooooooooooooooo! Ladies and gents, yours truly is once again off to the races! Ok, well maybe not races but…the rat race I guess?
I’ve kept in touch with a few contacts from my last last job and voila! I have a contract! As of tomorrow I’ll once again hate everything in my closet, curse at rush hour traffic, trying to grab coffee before frantically running for the subway again. Yay!
So today I did three loads of laundry, went grocery shopping, cleaned the house, made shepherd’s pie and raspberry turnovers and tomorrow’s lunch.
And now that I know I have some cash coming in wedding planning can start! Yay!

So the last couple of weeks I’ve been bombarded with a million questions about the wedding…when, where, Indian, Canadian etc etc. I don’t really have all that much of it sorted out.
I do have bridesmaids though!
I wrote each of my girls a card like the one pictured, telling each girl how imporant she was to me and asking her to be my bridesmaid (or maid of honor) and mailed it to her. I wanted to ask my girls formally and, as it is a commitment of time and energy, I wanted to give each of them a chance to think it over and decide. Fortunately, each of my girls accepted the invitation to be in my bridal party and I’m truly honored that they did. I have four bridesmaids and one maid of honor. My MOH is a close family friend who I’ve grown up, she’s the closest that I have to a sister. My bridesmaids are my closest friends - four girls I’ve known for years…the first person I met when I was moving into the dorms at university, another girl from my program and two girls I worked with. This is going to be so much fun!
I’ve been getting emails about the ring…so that picture is here too!
