When Bridezillas Attack

June 16, 2009 · 6 Comments

I was in a bridal store a few days ago looking at dresses for my bridesmaids when another bridal party came in consisting of three attendants and the bride.

The girls were picking up their dresses and also using it as a dress rehearsal of sorts. They were very matchy-matchy, same shoes, same jewelry, and from the conversation the hair and makeup would be identical as well. They all came out of their dressing rooms and it seemed that one of the girls didn’t have her shoes with her. Not a big deal right? They’re all wearing the EXACT same shoes, she could put on someone else’s for a minute to make sure the length was correct.

Instead, the bride started screaming at her for being inconsiderate and not focusing on the wedding and only thinking about herself. So, the girl screamed right back about how she wanted to drop out of the wedding and she didn’t care that it was only two weeks away.  The bride said she didn’t want her to begin with, she only asked because they’re sisters and she had to. Ouch. The (former?) bridesmaid stomped off into the dressing room and the bride stormed out of the store.

And I? I got a great deal on my BM’s dresses and vowed to never yell at my friends that way.

WOW! There is really no need for that. I mean I was stressed before my wedding, but never enough to yell at my friends. And it was nothing that alcohol couldn’t fix.

Good luck, and remember to eat at your reception, you paid for take the time to eat it.

Oh scary. My friend (who got married last weekend) and I were talking about this- the idea of bridezillas or the idea that some girls feel they are entitled to act like that once a wedding is in the picture. I’m so, so, so happy my friend wasn’t like this- AT ALL. She went out of her way to be extra thoughtful and it made everyone love her even more.

My sister recently got married, and thankfully she was the farther thing from a Bridezilla. :) Though, I was watching this show on TV and this girl was flipping out at her hair-dresser the day of the wedding (mind you, she had like 2 trial sessions previous to the big day), but apparently on the actual wedding day like one hair was out of place. Totally not even noticeable, and oh so fixable. But no, she screamed, yelled, threw a hissy fit and came close to tears.

It’s just scary how some bride’s get, lol. I think they want everything to be perfect to an unrealistic level. Like sometimes the cake isn’t going to be exactly like the picture you saw because they used peach-coral icing versus the coral-beige icing…like, um, no big deal. Still matches everything, and tastes just as good. :)

    Anyway, congratulations! :)
